This first painting of a diptych depicts the face of the artist's older brother, Alex, set against the landscape of Cerro Gordo Beach in Puerto Rico. As an adult, the artist spent time on this beach, photographing sunsets that later served as the basis for these works. During the creation process, she also learned stories of her father’s childhood spent there, deepening her connection to the place. Through making this work, the artist not only revisited her family’s history but also reaffirmed her commitment to exploring personal subject matter.
